Security and fraud
ClariStay never asks you to pay outside of the site's messaging and payment system. Here is how to recognise a fraud attempt and react.
Recognise a fraud attempt
- You are asked to pay by direct bank transfer or cash before any confirmation, to avoid the site's fees.
- You are pressured to reply or pay very quickly.
- You receive an email or SMS that imitates ClariStay with a payment link, outside your messaging on the site.
- You are asked for a code received by SMS or your password.
- The offer seems too good to be true, with no way to visit or read other travellers' reviews.
Immediate reflexes
- Never pay outside of ClariStay.
- Never share a security code or your password.
- Keep evidence: screenshots, messages, the bank details of the requested payment's beneficiary.
Report it to ClariStay
If a listing, message or booking seems fraudulent, report it to us. Our team reviews every report and can suspend an account or a listing if needed.
Contact us : signalement@claristay.eu
Describe the situation, attach a screenshot if possible, and the reference of the listing or booking concerned.
File a police report
Fraud is a criminal offence: ClariStay can suspend an account, but only the police can investigate and prosecute its author.
- Belgium — file a report online with the federal police
- France — online pre-complaint and cybercrime reporting : service-public.fr, cybermalveillance.gouv.fr
- For another country, contact the police where you live.
What ClariStay can do — and what it cannot do
Suspend an account or a listing, hold back a payment not yet transferred to the host, hand over evidence to the authorities under a judicial request.
ClariStay does not conduct criminal investigations and cannot recover funds sent outside the platform.
